Our client was considering what to do with his limestone floor and stumbled across our website. In his initial enquiry he noted:
“We have a limestone kitchen floor which should look like the photo on your website (SIC). But it doesn’t after 26 years. Actually it never did … those stones in the picture look as though they have been honed and polished down to a flat surface, whereas ours never was. I understand it this can be redone in situ, having cleaned etc and then properly sealed.”
It was a challenge that we were delighted to take on. This was slightly more of a comprehensive service than simply cleaning the floor or resurfacing it. Rather than just lifting the existing dirt and removing years of wear and tear, we wanted to completely transform the floor.
The benefit of this would not only be aesthetic but also help to ensure the longevity of the stone. We carried out several repairs where the stone had degraded as well as adding a densifier mid way through the process. This helped to consolidate the stone so that it would continue to last.
We used both our Titan which is the biggest piece of equipment for the grinding as well as a special edge machine to ensure that we could create an even finish. The diamond abrasives were a combination of copper, metal and pads with 7 stages completed across 3 days.
On his return the client commented:
“The floor look amazing, and frankly well beyond my hopes – given the repairs to cracks etc that have also been done. The levelling of the stones to match the height of the grouting has made a huge difference.”
The work done by Dave and his team on our 30+ year old limestone flooring was outstanding. The stone was dirty and very cracked in places and I never dreamt they could make something so old look so good. The resin colour they used was an exact match and the cracks they filled are barely discernible now. The cleaned limestone looks wonderful and fresh. I can't believe what they achieved and couldn't be more thrilled.
