Following the renovation of a property in a sought-after Buckinghamshire location, the client was looking to have the marble floor refinished to perfect it for the professional photography. Having been recently laid, but before the other works throughout the property had finished, the floor had been scratched and marked. Further to this, there was evidence of grout haze from the installation process. This occurs when the stone has not been correctly sealed prior to installation. This is often mistakenly thought to be a surface-level issue and so is often treated with a chemical or scrubbed to try to remove which can actually cause more damage. It is always recommended to seek a professional to restore the tile and reveal a fresh layer of stone.
The initial diamond grinding of the marble tiles enabled the grout haze, scratches and marks to be removed as well as stripping off the existing sealant. The client specifically asked for a mid-shine and so through the step by step polishing process this was achieved using an 800 grit diamond abrasive. The finish of the natural stone floor is always the choice of the client and so if you are unsure, then our Athena Stonecare team can carry out a small sample area as part of the quoting process.
