Marble worktops are a beautiful addition to your kitchen but will require a little extra care and maintenance. We offer restoration services to transform dull, stained and scratched marble worktops to their original condition.
Marble is particularly sensitive to acid and when acidic foods and liquids come into contact with a marble worktop the surface will become etched. This is a surface level burn mark that cannot be wiped away so will require a professional restoration treatment.
Contact UsThe processes for marble worktop polishing are very similar to the stone floor polishing processes but use a number of smaller diamond tools with abrasive pads and powders as required.
A full restoration process to transform heavily marked or etched marble worktop can take up to 8 levels of diamond resurfacing. The initial stages will use course graded diamonds to remove the etch marks and any scratches on the surface of the stone. A series of finer diamond pads will then be used to remove the scratch pattern from the previous diamond pads. The desired finish is then achieved by a system of higher grit diamond segments and pads that can be used in stages for matte, satin or high shine.
Contact UsThe final stage of all marble worktop polishing, or restoration services is the application of a sealant. Impregnating sealants penetrate the capillaries of the stone and protect from within. They can leave your marble surface with a natural, or colour-enhanced appearance, but always with the stone surface exposed. Because stone is porous, this sealant is essential to stop any spillages onto the stone penetrating within and damaging the internal structure and causing a deep set stain.
It is important to note that sealing your stone will not prevent etching to the surface caused by contact with acidic liquids. You should always ensure that you keep your marble worktop free from exposure to acidic cleaning products, foods and beverages.
Get A QuoteThe frequency of professional maintenance visits will depend on the stone finish, cleaning regime and ongoing use of the worktop. It will also depend on the initial restoration works undertaken. We always aim to create a bespoke programme for each of our clients and can discuss this with you during our survey.
